In 1986 Giles joins the band ASH and in 87 they head to the U.K. In late 87 the band breaks up and in 88,Giles leaves again for the U.K. with a solo career in mind. He begins work in London with fellow Gibraltarians Dennis Valerga, Eddie Adamberry and Stephen McLaren from ASH. They achieve a development deal with Island Records U.K. In 89 Giles returns to Gibraltar and forms a new band with the name Shattered 89, which would later be renamed Heads`O`Tails who win the Gibraltar International Song Festival in 1991 with the song “Hard Times” written by Giles and Stephen. In 1992 the band unfortunately breaks up and in that same year, Giles joins British band Ghost. Ghost hook up a publishing deal in London in 93 with Dick Leahy Music Ltd. (George Michael, Queen, Pink Floyd etc.) and in early 94 they achieve a recording contract with Now And Then records and release their debut album “The Other Side”. That year Giles enters the Gibraltar International Song Festival again, with his own composition “Touch Me Now” and again comes first in the competition. In 97 Giles is recruited to record and co-write the Bolton Wanderers Football Club anthem called “The Wanderers” with Ghost guitarist Steve Reid for the inauguration of the Reebok Stadium. It is performed in front of 30,000 fans. In 98 Giles and Stephen McLaren begin a new project called Reach and in 2000 they land a record deal with RCA/BMG Spain and release their debut album in 2001, managing to enter their first single “Sigo Sin Dormir” into the Spanish top 40 charts. They tour extensively as support to Estopa in 2001, playing in front of thousands of fans in football stadiums and arenas. In 2005 Giles forms new band The Spoons.They release their well-received album “Triangles” in 2008. Giles has now completed the recording of his first solo album,“ULTIMATELY”. It is a compilation of his own songs, some with outside collaboration. The album will be released in December 2011.
